The major production areas of Yanyuan apples are located in basins at an altitude of 2,300–2,600 meters, featuring a cool highland climate with abundant sunshine and semi-aridity. It has a three-dimensional climate characterized by distinct four seasons, small annual temperature differences, large diurnal temperature differences, a long frost-free period throughout the year, dry winters and springs, concentrated rainfall in summers and autumns, as well as synchronized rainfall and heat, and sufficient sunshine.
